B-roll is the secondary footage layered over narration — the cutaways, scenery and illustrative shots that keep a video visually engaging while the voice carries the story.
For faceless content, b-roll is the entire visual layer. It comes from stock footage, AI-generated imagery, or motion clips, often animated with the Ken Burns effect so stills feel alive.
